Have you ever seen those girls with those gorgeous lip colors & you ask them what they are, then they act like they forgot? Yeah, I hate them, too. Bitches. Way to win at roulette. But because I love sharing & I'd personally prefer every lipstick lover to look awesome, I thought I'd share my favorite lip combinations that I do more than four times with you! I didn't include any lip colors that are limited edition, because…not everyone has them & who wants to pay $90 for a lipstick on eBay? Not I. And yes, I use MAC lip pencils the most because, hey, I worked there for almost 2 years & why wouldn't I? There's dupes for practically all of the lip pencils, if you're balling on a budget, so no worries.
Anyways, enjoy! If you have questions, comment me or send me a message by clicking the 'Contact' link!
Mac Tabla Lipstick
- MAC Cork lip pencil + Myth lipstick: One of my favorite go-to nude lip combos. And because I can't ever do anything quite simple, I like to go in a little heavily with my hand to apply Cork, diffusing & blending out the edges with Myth to create my 'just going to the grocery store' nude, ombre lip.
- MAC Soar lip pencil + Fleshpot lipstick: Another everyday lip. Fleshpot is a really light nude with a pink undertone, so what other way to bring out those undertones than with a beautiful muted mauvey-pink lip pencil? With a light hand, I apply Soar, bringing into my lip & apply Fleshpot on top, but not over the lip line.
- MAC Beet lip pencil + Candy Yum Yum lip pencil: One of my favorite fun pink lips. I used to not be too fond of Beet lip pencil (I wasn't really into red-hued pinks very much back in my naïve, green days). But I guess I shouldn't have knocked it until I tried it. Like the last two lips, I line with Beet, bringing the color onto my lip, then applying Candy Yum Yum on top but not over the lip line of course. Gots to see dat definition.
- MAC Lasting Sensation lip pencil + Myth lipstick: Ooh, this is one of my favorites. It's such a beautiful pure orangey/nude-y infused lip. Lasting Sensation lip pencil is one of MAC's prolong wear pencils, so this ish stands the test of time & also helps Myth to hold up throughout the day. Myth helps to tone down the orangey-ness of Lasting Sensation, creating a beautiful orange-nude. How I apply this is the same way I apply the last three.
- MAC Plum lip pencil (by itself all over the lip): 90s lips are my thing. Cue in 'The Sign' by Ace of Base. This lip pencil BY ITSELF is so gorgeous on every skin tone. It's a neutral, muted plum & you can pair it with virtually any nude/neutral lip color & you're SET.
- MAC Plum lip pencil + Blankety lipstick: Like I just said, Plum looks good with any neutral/nude lip. Blankety lipstick is definitely more on the pinky side, but still a neutral nonetheless. This lip combo is of my favs because it's just…pretty. I either apply Plum all over my lip, then Blankety on top or I do my lip lining-diffusing/blending the edges thing. Either way, it's a fool proof beautiful lip.
- MAC Plum lip pencil + Fleshpot: Fleshpot = super abrasive light nude, especially if you're medium to deeper complected. That's why Plum, like Soar, is so amazing. Plum & Fleshpot create such a beautiful color that looks anything but plain. That's why it's one of my favorites.
- MAC Chestnut lip pencil + Myth lipstick: my favorite 90s-inspired lip. Paired with fresh makeup and just mascara, this lip definitely gives me a Melrose Place vibe with a defined lip line & I blend the pencil on my lip to diffuse and blend Myth so it doesn't look too choppy or weird. Because I don't like my lip line to look TOO dark, I apply Chesnut with a light hand.
- MAC Burgundy lip pencil + Ruby Woo lipstick: This is my go-to red lip. Though I am a fan of a gorgeous, vampy ombre red lip, Burgundy is less dramatic but still gorgeous. Try it…it might just become your go-to, too!
- MAC Beet lip pencil + MAC Candy Yum Yum + Ruby Woo lipstick: my own special concoction that is a dupe for MAC + Rihanna's Pleasure Bomb lipstick that I wasn't able to get my hands on, even as a MAC employee. I apply Beet lip pencil first, then go in with one full layer of Ruby Woo, then Candy Yum Yum. Woo, that was a mouthful. See? Layering lipsticks isn't THAT dutiful. Enjoy.
- MAC Currant lip pencil + Heroine lipstick + NYC 'Milk' pencil: Didn't see THAT one coming, did ya? Yup. Currant & Heroine work together in harmony to create that 'ooh, I love that purple lip!' creation, but blending Milk right into the center to lighten & make Heroine look a bit more lavender-y turns it into a 'write down what you used on your lips, PLEASE!' lip. You're welcome.
- MAC Nightmoth + Media Lipstick: I have to have at least one vamp limp in the mix. This is my favorite one. Media is more on the deep burgundy side, while Nightmoth is more so on the deep purple side. But together? It's like peanut butter & jelly. Mac & cheese. Chicken &…well you get the idea. I love this combo. It's versatile. Perfect for all skin tones & flawless with a simple winged liner.
- MAC Chestnut (or Bittersweet) lip pencil + Photo (or Tabla) lipstick: I'm not done with my 90s lips just yet. For that perfect, rich, edible-looking chocolate lip, this combo is my favorite. Looks great on any skin tone. If you're fairer skinned & afraid for it to look too deep, lighten your hand with the lip pencil & opt for Tabla instead of Photo lipstick. (psst, Chestnut looks bomb by itself too…when I say that, I mean TRY IT)
- MAC Magenta lip liner + Saint Germain lipstick: Another fun pink lip, a bit more bubblegum, Barbie inspired. Magenta gives the pastel pink color of Saint Germain definition and the contrast is gorgeous. Love love love.
- MAC Spice lip pencil + MAC Sweet & Sour: This lip combo is the business. Similar to the Lasting Sensation + Myth Combo, this one isn't shy of the pale orange hues. Spice has warm undertone that looks perfect with Sweet & Sour. Perfect for summer when I get super tan & bronzed.
- MAC Half Red + Snob lipstick: A lip combo that ended up being one of my favorites. It's such an unconventional pairing when you see them side by side, but they work. Half Red is a muted mauve with a verrrry slight red undertone & Snob is a muted pale pink. Blend them together & it looks great.
- MAC Stone (by itself): Pull out your flannel, mesh shirts, & your Nirvana CD. Stone is so 90s, the 90s couldn't handle it. This gorgeous, grungey gray neutral pencil isn't for those that don't like to experiment. It fits virtually any skin tone. By itself, I love this, especially during the fall & winter time.
- (I also love Stone with NYX 'Milk' pencil & MAC's 'Exclusive Event' lipstick, but unfortunately that color was limited edition)
- MAC Stone + Fleshpot: One random day I wasn't feeling how Stone looked with my eye look, so I applied Fleshpot on top & BOOM…magic. Just when I thought Stone couldn't get any better, it did. It's perfect.
- MAC Chestnut + Fleshpot:*DUPE ALERT* I remember going on Limecrime's website & constantly getting disappointed that Cashmere was constantly sold out. After randomly scrolling on my OWN Instagram, I realized that a color on my lips looked very familiar. MAC Chestnut + Fleshpot WAS CASHMERE! I compared & it was most definitely an exact dupe! Fleshpot was able to lighten, cool down, & slightly pinken Chestnut. The combo created that light 'greige' with pink undertones that Cashmere has. I go in with a light hand with Chestnut, lining my lips & blending the pencil slightly on my lips then Fleshpot RIGHT on top. (Stone & Fleshpot looks similar, but a bit more gray & much lighter)
- LA Girl Matte Gloss in 'Stunner' + Kleancolor Madly Matte lipstick in 'Rosemary': This color came out nowhere. I was running late for work & I didn't feel like layering Stunner yet again to get it on super opaque, so I grabbed Rosemary, since I kept them together after I bought them & applied it right on top. LISTEN. I didn't expect to create the most epic, florescent, neon-looking purple I've ever had on my lips. Like…LOOK AT IT (below, after having it one ALL DAY). Come on. It instantly became one of my new favorites.
- MAC Spice lip pencil + NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in 'Almond': This lip is similar to Spice + Sweet & Sour, just less orangey and more of a pale, warm nude. Nice, simple go-to.
